Biography

Miss Farr (later, Mrs. Sloan) taught art at Nightingale in the early 1940s. The Class of 1944 dedicated their yearbook to her. Helen Farr graduated from the Brearley School in 1929. Her education in art came from various places, including Cornell Medical School (for anatomy), the Craft Students League, the Art Students League of New York, trips to Europe, and studied with artist John Sloan. She left Nightingale in 1945 and joined Mr. Sloan in Santa Fe, where they married. He died in 1951 and Mrs. Sloan focused on her art and philanthropy. She died in December 2005 in Delaware.
