Biography

Nancy Agnew was educated at Wellesley (Class of 1950) and NYU and worked in publishing prior to her teaching career. She married Seth M. Agnew in 1966 and had two step-daughters.

Nancy Agnew joined Nightingale in fall 1969 as an Upper School English teacher, adding Head of Upper School to her duties in 1971. In 1975-76, she served as supervisor of Classes IX and X and taught Class VIII English. In 1978, in addition to teaching, she became Director of Special Planning. The following year, she moved exclusively to development as Director of the Capitol Development Fund and Director of Development and Alumnae Affairs.

After leaving Nightingale after the 1979-80 school year, Mrs. Agnew held various positions at Wellesley as director of corporation and foundation fundraising, director of communications, and Vice President for Public Affairs. She also served on the Board of Dana Hall School. Mrs. Agnew died in October 2009.
