Created several years ago to honor the myriad contributions made to Nightingale by former Associate Head of School Kitty Gordan in her more than 42 years at the school, the annual series focuses on the scholarly pursuits and interests of our faculty, both inside and outside the classroom.

Scope and Contents From approximately 2014 to 2018, Catherine "Kitty" Gordan collected published school histories of various independent schools in connection with her research and writing of Nightingale's centennial history book. In 2021, she donated this collection to the Nightingale-Bamford School Archives. There are fourteen published books in total, mostly histories of independent schools in New York City and the northeast United States, with a focus on girls' schools.
