Biography
When her daughter left Spence for boarding school, Betty Alexander was hired at Nightingale with a glowing recommendation from Spence's headmistress, who was impressed with her work as head of their Parents Association. Between 1960 and 1965, she was employed as Assistant and Secretary to the Headmistress, Mrs. Woodbridge, clerk to the Board of Trustees, and handled school admissions. In 1970, Betty became a Nightingale Trustee, and five years later, was elected President of the Board, an obligation that she held until 1980. After her Board retirement, she was named an Honorary Trustee.
Betty Alexander also served as co-chair of the school's first Capital Development Program in the late 1960s.
She passed away September 18, 1993.
