Biography
Madame de Bronac taught Upper School French and German at Nightingale beginning in 1925 and became head of the French department in 1926. She left in 1943 to have a daughter, Marie-Louise. While at Nightingale, Madame de Bronac also contributed to the school's Fair and directed French Club. She died in March 2003 in San Diego, CA at the age of 105.

             In 1984, based on a determination that Nightingale's archives were inadequate in revealing the school's history, Head of School Joan McMenamin and the Alumnae Association initiated an oral history project. Alumna Marea Adams '74 conducted interviews of former faculty and staff, heads of school, trustees, parents, and alumnae (some interviewees represent more than one of these roles).
