Biography
Linda Kay Eastman was born in Seattle, WA and moved to New Jersey at age 8. In fall 1979, she married William Henry Hammond Jr. She had just graduated from Princeton University, where she directed the co-ed singing group Princeton Katzenjammers and was a member of Cloister Inn, and earned a master's in curriulum and teaching at Teacher's College, Columbia University. Ms. Hammond, as she was first known, started in 1981 as a homeroom and Class V geography teacher at Nightingale, then taught Class V math before moving to Class VII history. In 1994, she married Curtis Field; they have two children, Margaret or "Meg" '14 (later known as Mickey) and Susannah '16. Both worked alongside their mother at Nightingale. Throughout the years, Ms. Field served as an advisor, assistant head of Middle School, assistant head of Upper School, Upper School history faculty, Middle School Diversity Coordinator, and coordinator of White Anti-Racist Learning Spaces. Her final role as Director of Scheduling began part-time in 1993 (in addition to teaching until 2019). Ms. Field died in June 2024, shortly after her retirement.
