The Year Book of The Nightingale-Bamford School, vol. 13, 1937
Scope and Contents
The 1937 Yearbook begins with a dedication to and photograph of Miss Elisabeth Harlow, followed by a list of school officers and the ten senior names that comprise the Class of 1937. Each senior has a page that includes her school activities, a recent photograph, and a baby photograph. There is a photograph of Council members with a description of the year's goals, and Canterbury Club officers and activities are noted. The junior and senior Dramatic Clubs are memorialized in a photograph and the club's annual review, which notes a performance of Pickwick Papers and intended spring performance of Trelawny of the Wells. Club activity summaries are included for Science Club, Le Cercle Francais, Glee Club, Social Service, and the Opera Guild, and descriptions of school events include the Canterbury-Athletic party, the Christmas Fair, the Christmas party, and the Christmas Pageant. These are followed by a general overview of the school year, notably including the reappearance of Chirps magazine and the cataloguing of the library. A description of athletics at the school includes Athletic Association officers and Blue and Silver team captains, with a photograph of the school basketball team and the fencing team and their rosters. A summary of the Lower School's year follows, noting that parents gifted a mimeograph machine, which the children are intrigued by. In addition to the aforementioned photographs, the yearbook has one page of candid photographs of older students on the school roof at recess. An Alumnae News section includes the Alumnae Association officers, events of the year, and alumnae updates. Chirps writing and poetry follows and ads round out the yearbook. There are no class photographs or photographs of any faculty or staff.
