Biographical / Historical

Since the first graduating class in 1925 (with girls in earlier non-graduating classes granted Associate membership), the Alumnae Association formed and slowly grew each year, with the first officers elected in 1927. They drew up a constitution and started to put their plans into action. Early activities of the Association included the Nightingale tradition of filling A.I.C.P. Christmas "Red Stockings" for those in need, hosting events such as dramatic productions, a school bazaar, basketball games, and raising money for scholarships. In 1934, the Alumnae Association announced that it would award a silver cup annually "to the girl who best represents the ideals of the school" and began holding a tea in May to welcome the new graduating class into the Association. The first Alumnae Bulletin was also published, describing these early Association activities and plans, as well as sharing updates from alumnae by class year.
