Scope and Contents From the Sub-Group:

Student Publications consist of Nightingale student-created content published by students, usually under the guidance of a faculty advisor. Publications include student newspapers, literary magazines, art magazines, foreign language magazines, humor, and entertainment publications. Most are created by Upper School students, although some Middle School publications are included. The archives does not have full runs of most student publications.

Scope and Contents School Magazine is a handwritten student literary magazine that was created in 1919 by Nightingale classes. Contents include a variety of writing, from true stories about travels to creative writing to academic writing reports to school "gossip" (mostly factual news!). Some issues include student artwork. A chain letter between students dominates one issue. It is unknown how long this publication existed; it ceased sometime prior to 1931, when students created the literary magazine, Chirps....

Scope and Contents Chirps was a literary publication published by Nightingale students, founded and first edited by student Henrietta Skinner '31. A selection of writing contributions and/or winning stories and poems submitted to Chirps were published in a freestanding first issue in March 1931 and in the school's annual yearbook. Thereafter, it appears that Chirps was only published in the yearbook, then completely disappeared in 1936. The...
