Woodbridge, Catherine Baldwin, 1905-1984
Biography
Catherine Baldwin Woodbridge was a 1927 graduate of Barnard College, where her father was head of the English department (Mrs. Woodbridge later served as President of the Barnard College Alumnae Association and from 1958-1976 as a member of the Board of Trustees).
In 1942, Mrs. Woodbridge taught English and history for a year at the Brearley School, then spent the next 15 years at the Chapin School. She came to Nightingale in March 1958 as co-head of the school with Mrs. Robillard, whose health limited her activities. She became head of school following Mrs. Robillard's death in June 1958. Mrs. Woodbridge also occasionally taught English and history before retiring in 1971.
After her retirement, Mrs. Woodbridge was interim director of the Brick Church Nursery School in 1975, and from 1977 to 1979 she was director of the Searing School. Mrs. Woodbridge and husband, architect Frederick J. Woodbridge, had one son and one daughter.
Catherine Woodbridge passed away in 1984 at the age of 79.
