Biography

Miss Aline Vicary, originally from England, taught eighth grade at Nightingale-Bamford School from 1935 to June 1973 and also served as Head of Middle School. The 1965 Yearbook was dedicated to her. Miss Vicary died in 1982. In addition to a memorial held at the school, the Aline Vicary Memorial Fund was established to provide Middle School scholarships, and a Middle School English prize is awarded in her name each year at Honors Assembly. In 1992, two alumnae issued a challenge to name the seminar room in the new library the Aline Vicary Seminar Room [the room is currently part of the 3rd floor and photographs of every graduating class and past heads of school are hung on the walls].
