Biography
Tatiana C. Bouteneff, or "Madame Bouteneff" as she was known to students, taught modern languages at Nightingale from 1956 to 1993. Born Tatiana Troubetskoy, she was raised in an aristocratic White Russian community, born and educated in Paris, where she received a degree from the Sorbonne. Madame came to the United States in 1948 and married Sergei Bouteneff, with whom she had a son and daughter, Marina '66. She taught French to Lower and Middle School students in the 1960s, and to Middle and Upper School students in the 1970s. In 1971, she also taught Russian, which later became an Interschool class. The Class of 1975 dedicated their yearbook to her. She retired in 1993. Madame Bouteneff died in 1997.
