Biography

Jenny Smith began at Nightingale-Bamford School in 1980-81 as a physical education teacher for Kindergarten through Class XII students. She became a soccer team coach the following year when soccer was added as a school team sport. In 1985, Ms. Smith served as acting Head of Physical Education and Athletics for one year, after which she became the Head. In 2007, the physical education and athletics departments were administratively separated, and Ms. Smith became Director of Athletics. She served in that role until her retirement in 2011. Over the years, Ms. Smith coached varsity soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, and tennis, as well as junior varsity basketball and V/VI soccer. She was also instrumental in bringing back the Sunny Days program after the Nightingale community was able to move into it's new schoolhouse in fall 1991.
