Biography
Miss Lucy Guy Burwell served as secretary to Miss Nightingale and Miss Bamford from approximately 1922 until 1940. In the early 1930s, she lived across the street from the Schoolhouse with Nightingale's boarding students.
Miss Burwell was the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Edward Bouldin Burwell of Upperville, Virginia. In 1935, she married Isham Keith in Virginia and continued to reside in New York. She retired to Upperville, where she died in 1989 at the age of 99.

This series includes correspondence, photographs, a commencement speech, and biographical records of Maya Stevens Bamford. A majority of the correspondence relates to commencement speakers. The earliest photograph is from 1939 and the latest from 1970, when Miss Bamford attended the school's fiftieth anniversary luncheon. Biographical information includes family history, an announcement of Miss Bamford's retirement from the school, and a program and sound recording from a memorial service...
