Biographical / Historical
Canterbury Club was created at Nightingale in 1924-25. Its purpose was to oversee all entertainment and social activities for students, such as debates, plays, and parties, including some tasks undertaken by the former Dramatic Association, which lacked continuity. In 1949, a reorganization took place in which Canterbury Club was replaced by Committee of the Arts to coordinate art, music, and drama efforts and whose chairman would represent Drama Club, Art Club, and Glee Club on Council (previously, Canterbury Club shared the same head as Drama Club, and since Canterbury Club was part of Council, Drama Club had representation but Art and Glee Clubs did not).
