The Blue Doors. Vol. 1, issue 1, 2007 winter
Scope and Contents
Since some of the earliest years of the Alumnae Association's existence, a newsletter has been shared with Nightingale-Bamford School alumnae to stay abreast of alumnae news and experiences as well as share news from the schoolhouse. These were known as Alumnae Bulletin, Bulletin of the Nightingale-Bamford School, Alumnae Bulletin of the Nightingale-Bamford School, Alumnae Newsletter, then returning to the original Alumnae Bulletin and just Bulletin, before a major name change to Blue Door, and finally, The Blue Doors.
The Blue Door was founded in Fall 1999 by alumna Cristina Roig Morris ’82, based on the idea of creating a newsletter “written for Nightingale alumnae by Nightingale alum-nae” (The Blue Door, Spring 2002).
The Blue Doors was introduced in winter 2007 as a biannual publication for communicating with the Nightingale community. It's purpose is to "capture the best of its predecessor publication, while adding more reporting and a feature or two for each issue" (The Blue Doors, winter 2007). Subjects may include achievements of parents, alumnae, students, faculty, staff, and friends, academic programs, special events at the school, educational travels, reunions, fundraising, and Class Notes (alumnae updates by class year). The inside back cover includes lists of administration, trustees, the Alumnae Board, Institutional Advancement and Communications employees, and Parents Association leadership. The Blue Doors is occasionally mailed with the school's annual report to donors.
Typically, issues are published in fall and spring; note that no issue was published for Spring 2020, and the Winter 2022 issue replaces the Fall 2021 issue.
