From approximately 2014 to 2018, Catherine "Kitty" Gordan collected published school histories of various independent schools in connection with her research and writing of Nightingale's centennial history book. In 2021, she donated this collection to the Nightingale-Bamford School Archives. There are fourteen published books in total, mostly histories of independent schools in New York City and the northeast United States, with a focus on girls' schools. These histories are valuable sources for researchers of women's education and independent schools in New York City.
